Match 1. Chris Matrix v. Ryan Silva. W – Matrix.
Matrix gave the kid a chance to show his skills before destroying him with a helicopter and hard slam.

Jake Diamond Starts Feud With Carlos Esteban
Dapper Ring Announcer Diamond surprised us all by confronting Esteban. He called him a “loser” and challenged him to a fight. After slapping the Peruvian, a match was set for later in the evening.

Benny Blanco Interview Spoiled by Buck Nasty
The Champion’s spot with Derek Moore was rudely interrupted by a Buck Nasty ambush. Mr. Blanco was obviously hurt which did not bode well for their title match later in the evening.

Match 2. Richie Rich v. Trash Man Rob Roberts. W – Rich
Trash Man Rob showed balls by being willing to go against the WWF veteran who is on a tear to prove that he is the best after a nasty divorce from former champion Superstar Shawn Candido. Rich probably can’t be stopped right now. Roberts got in some licks but it was Rich’s night.

Match 3. Brian “Parties” Partington v. Robbie The Giant Araujo. W – Partington
Billed as a “student challenges teacher” match, Brian took on one of the top wrestlers in New England and showed us all how far he’s come by winning. Robbie was quite angry and looked like he was ready to explode on his protegé but the men ended up in a hug and mutual tribute. These two guys are good comedy wrestlers but don’t be fooled. They have the stuff to take on anyone, anywhere.

Match 4. Jake Diamond v. Carlos Esteban. W – Esteban (Count Out)
The rookies demonstrated not only their mutual distaste but showed the crowd what the SPW school is all about. Good technical wrestling from two men of similar size and build. Their fundamentals are strong, thanks to discipline, proper training, management by their trainers and the promoter. Diamond decided to make an exit before he was too banged up and took the count out. Smart, and not a bad ending for a first match.

Match 5. Nick Night v. Diabolical Scott Ledeur. W – Night
Nick Night has wrestled hundreds of different people in his storied career but none as hard to gauge as Scott Ledeur. He had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to beat the disturbed worker, though he got there in the end. Despite his issues, Ledeur is strong, skilled, and willing to take enormous risks to win. He’s the ultimate wild card in New England at this point. Everyone should be worried. On any given night he just might take someone’s belt.

Match 6. Adrenaline Rush (Dangerous Daniel Evans & Keith Youngblood) vs. Sammy Mack & Dan Ram Ramirez – No Contest
Evans has had a rough go of it at SPW. Fan disapproval, some losses in matches he thought he had in the bag, and bad luck. Partner Youngblood encouraged him to get in the ring and show Woonsocket what they are about. Adrenaline Rush face a tough team and might have won had Referee Sandow not disqualified both teams for non-compliance with his instructions.

Match 7. Donny Rotten (with Miss Christina) v. Big Dog Butler. W – Butler
Newcomer (but obviously veteran) Rotten surprised us with his youthful agility and ability to face a much larger opponent. The guy might have won if he had gone for the pin after using a neck breaker to get Butler on the ground. He got greedy and went for the high spot which was interrupted as he climbed the ropes by Butler. Butler Frog Splashed and pinned the man from New York. We hope to see more of Mr. Rotten.

Match 8. Heavyweight Championship: Benny Blanco (C) v. Buck Nasty. W – Nasty (New Champion)
10 long years of toil and disappointment ended for Buck Nasty as he legitimately won the SPW Heavyweight Championship.
This was a no DQ match in which Blanco brought an X Box and Nasty a rope which they used liberally on each other. Blanco unwisely attempted to lift the 300 pound plus Nasty and was finished by a neck breaker and a pin.
Sad for Benny Blanco whose reign was surprisingly short. One could argue that Nasty weakened the Champion with his earlier attack. Our view is that this is wrestling and workers have to deal with this sort of thing. Benny Blanco is the kind of man who we are sure will take this loss for what it is and mount a rematch bid.
For now, congratulations to Buck Nasty. We suggest that part of his purse be spent on a box of Kleenex so he no longer feels compelled to blow his nose on the fans.

Match 9. Woonsocket Rumble. W – Night
The entire locker room participated in a Royal Rumble style contest where fans pick the order of entry (a SPW innovation, much copied by others). This was a spirited contest in which a lot of damage was done by and to a lot of wrestlers. Ledeur, Youngblood, Mack, and Night were the final 4. Night pulls it off by rolling up Sammy Mack and quickly throwing Ledeur over. Night has a title shot that is redeemable for one year whenever he wishes to use it.
