Beverly, Massachusetts, April 29, 2017 – Saturday, April 29, ElkMania Promotions presents CHAMPIONS CARNIVAL, which promises to be a fun-filled evening of championship matches along with a ballyhoo of sideshow attractions. Beverly/Salem Elks Lodge, 39 Bow Street, Beverly, MA.
Doors open at 6:30 PM. Bell time is at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $10.00 in advance and are on sale at Silver Moon Comics & Collectibles located inside of the East India Square Mall, Salem, MA. Tickets will be available at the door for $12.00. Creative Salem members will get two dollars off their admission at the door with proof of membership.
Bay State Champion, and Salem’s own Derek Simonetti, returns to face the unpredictable “Tough Talk” Tony Spencer. Simonetti won the title in the grueling 30-Man North Shore Rumble. Spencer has been demanding a title shot from the moment he was pinned by Simonetti in the finals of the Rumble, claiming it was an unmitigated fluke.
All-Star Champion, “The Maniacal” Jack Krueger, stole the title at ElkMania 4 this past September. Now he is set to face one of independent wrestling’s most recognizable names in JT Dunn. Krueger is out to prove that he is the embodiment of fear while Dunn looks to show that he and his Strong Style offense fear no one.
Adding to the evening’s events will be five additional championship matches including a four-team tournament to crown our inaugural New England Tag Team Champions.
Champions Carnival is a fundraiser for the Beverly/Salem Elks Tools for Schools (TFS) Program. Established in 2015, TFS has served students in the Salem Public School system by providing those in need with school supplies. This past August, TFS was able to give away approximately 300 backpacks filled with school supplies to Salem students in all grade levels.

Franklin resident Rich Palladino returns as ring announcer for Showcase. Quite a “get”. He’s the most in-demand announcer in The Northeast. His work in ECW, Chaotic, and Beyond Wrestling has made him an international property.
Match videos will be available after 10:00 p.m EST 18 April at our YouTube channel.
Match 1. Hugo Brito v. Kid Crazy. W – Kid Crazy
Trainee Hugo was introduced to the fans before the official start of the show and touted by Mr. Palladino as “The Future”. His trainer, Kid Crazy, must have thought that the youth was getting ahead of himself. Kid Crazy came out and challenged the kid to a match in which he ended up teaching him a painful lesson in humility. The Trainer showed the Trainee what a DDT feels like followed by an easy pin. The SPW School takes lessons seriously.
Match 2. Cargill Vinton v. Carlos. W – Vinton
Cargill Vinton has taken a dark turn. Despite a valiant effort and a few worthy submission holds by Carlos, nothing fazed the veteran. Carlos dived and missed from the top rope which gave Vinton an opportunity to slam him on his back for the pin. Mr. Vinton took punishment without much evidence of pain and seemed to end the match when he felt like it. This means trouble for new Champion Nick Night.
Match 3. Trash Man Rob Roberts v. Blade Runner. W – Blade Runner
The Trash Man (now solo as Trash Man Joe has relocated) is still in this game despite lots of miles and injuries galore. He gave a good effort against the giant Blade Runner, whose measured approach at cruelty is nearly impossible to counter. Luckily for all, Referee Rocha somehow managed to dissuade The American Nightmare from using his razor-sharp sword during the match. Blade Runner applies a neck breaker for the pin.
Nicholas Night Speaks
When you are the Champion, everyone is gunning for you. Mr. Night’s address to the fans was rudely interrupted by former Champion, and top contender Mr. Don Vega. Night left in disgust as Vega demanded a start to his match and warned The Champion that he is coming for him.
Match 4. “The Punisher” Don Vega V. Chris Matrix. W – Mr. Vega
How do you beat a legend? Chris Matrix gave a spirited offense despite taking an exhausting beating from Don Vega. Mr. Vega tried throwing Matrix into Referee Warren but Matrix managed to avoid hurting the official. Mr. Vega then got himself “tossed” into the referee. As Matrix tried to remove him from the scrum, Vega put him in a hold and dropped him on his head followed by a pin.
Match 5. Todd Harris v. Diabolical Scott Ledeur (with Annabel) W – Harris
Young Harris did a good job of keeping Ledeur distracted by taunting his doll Annabel, and using his growing arsenal of technical moves. Scott did something cool if slightly illegal: He smothered Todd Harris with a hidden plastic bag and Referee Rocha was none the wiser. Harris took a page from the Candido Book of Smart Moves and stomped Ledeur on the back of his head, followed by a pin.
Match 6. Tag Team Championship Match: Team #1 (Richie Rich & Superstar Shawn Candido with Doctor Ozone) v. Mack Attack (Monster Mack & Trainee #1). W – Team #1
This was a 2 out of 3 falls contest. Amazingly, Monster Mack double-teamed Candido for the first fall within one minute of the bell. Doctor Ozone protested to The Commissioner to no avail. When things got tough, the wise manager provided Mr. Candido with a pair of brass knuckles. He did not use them, throwing them back to his manager. That is clear from direct ringside observation, so no cheating occurred. Monster Mack pinned Candido and the bell was rung. Mr. Palladino announced new Champions as Doctor Ozone implored Referee Warren to look in Monster Mack’s sleeve. Coincidentally, a pair of brass knuckles identical to Candido’s were found. Mack Attack disqualified and Team #1 retains their title. It’s possible that they were the same brass knuckles planted on MM but we saw no evidence this personally.
Match 7: Heavyweight Championship Match: Nicholas Night (C) v. Buck Nasty (with Papa Nasty). W – Night
The Nastys claim that Nicholas Night cheated in his Battle Royal Title win. They give no supporting detail or evidence to back up this claim. Buck Nasty was a great champion, brutally taking on all challengers. He could easily take the belt back, he’s that good these days. After an intense battle, Buck tried to do Night’s patented face breaker, missed, then was put in one by The Champion. Pin and title retained. Papa Nasty was not pleased.

Another great night in the center of the New England Wrestling Universe.
(Videos will be available Monday 10 April after 10:00 p.m. EST on our YouTube Channel)
New Heavyweight Champion Nicholas Night Addresses The Fans
Mr. Night is on his second run as SPW Champion. He took some time to express his views including his sadness at the fact that his old friend, former SPW Champion, Cargill Vinton, had betrayed him during the evening of his victory over Buck Nasty. Night was interrupted by the offstage voice of Cargill Vinton, who in a rather cryptic and dark diatribe, explained his perspective and made it clear that he intends to dethrone Nick Night. (We interviewed Mr. Vinton after the show. We tried to get to the bottom of things but this is still an incomprehensible and fluid situation. Check out the video on our YouTube channel)
Match 1. Chris Matrix v. RL Lane. W – Matrix
Matrix incessantly mocked the alleged telepathic powers of RL Lane all through the match. Lane gave some punishment but never managed to get his powers activated. Matrix slams him on his back for the pin and RL Lane limps home.
Match 2. Jack Krueger & Alicia Muldoon v. Amanda Fox & Diabolical Scott Ledeur (with Annabel). W – Fox & Ledeur
Impromptu teams of two men and two women who hate each other. The hoped for tag team flow never really materialized as the existing feuds dominated the contest. Ledeur ended up doing what he’s done before: Brutalizing Alicia, knocking the wind out of her to set up Fox for the easy pin. This happened because Krueger was momentarily immobilized by one of his psychotic episodes. Good times.
Match 3. Robbie “The Giant” Araujo & Brian Partington v. The Fellowship (Dante & S.O.G. Ronnie Ribs). W – The Fellowship
This was a weird match. Brian Partington returned to wrestling and teaming with Araujo after a hiatus. Both teams struggled to deal with the other, size and style disparities making it difficult for either side to gain the clear advantage. Brian tried a top rope dive onto Ribs. Ribs held onto the diminutive wrestler, slamming him for the pin.
Match 4. Big Dog Butler v. Carlos. W – Butler
Carlos brought his A game but was unable in the end to cope with the massive size of Big Dog Butler. For such a big man, Mr. Butler brings speed and a surprising variety of moves. Carlos made some headway with flying elbows off the top rope but The Big Dog finished things with an inescapable Frog Splash and pin.
Match 5: Three Way Elimination: Mack Attack (Monster Mack & Trainee #1) v. Team Number One (Superstar Shawn Candido & Richie Rich with Doctor Ozone) v. The Harris Country Club (Todd Harris & Malik Logan). W – Team Number One
The Champions let The Harris Country Club and Mack Attack soften each other up for quite some time before they actively entered the contest. Candido pins Harris and for some reason Mack Attack left the ring area. They were sent back by Sgt. Muldoon. Monster Mack double clotheslined Rich and Candido and went up top when Doctor Ozone grabbed his feet resulting in his falling on his crotch. Dazed, Candido stomped his head and pinned him clean. Victory as usual for Team Number One. Pure Genius on Doctor Ozone’s part.
Match 6. Yankee Pro Wrestling Reunion 3-Way Match: Trash Man Rob Roberts v. Steven Lust (with Mr. Chad Epik) v. The Blade Runner. W – Lust
Blade Runner and Roberts teamed up to keep Steven Lust on defense for most of the match. Fortunately for Lust, he had master manager Chad Epik in his corner. Epik kept the giant Blade Runner from doing his worst, though Roberts applied more than his share of punishment to the man from Lowell. Mr. Epik distracts Blade Runner by handling his sword outside the ring allowing Lust to pin The Trash Man.
Match 7. Heavyweight Title Contest: Nicholas Night (C) v. Chris Cruise. W – Night
This was Mr. Night’s first title defense since winning the Gauntlet For The Gold last month. Chris Cruise is done with his Matrix rivalry, and brought a lot to this contest. He’s getting better every month and there were plenty of moments in this fight when he was a real threat. Cruise managed to throw Night on his face but The Champion quickly countered with a roll up and a pin that to this reporter looked like only a two count. Both wrestlers are at the top of their games. Cruise continues to lurk as a top contender.
After the show we were able to interview Cargill Vinton and get his thoughts on his new state of mind. We admit to being confused about what is going on with the former Champion. Things are about to get very dark at SPW.
The interview will be available on our YouTube Channel) after 10:00 p.m. EST Monday 10 April.

Lumberjake – Possibly the strongest wrestler in New England. Mike Paiva – Old school charm. Keeping the tradition of biting alive. Seeing these two live is a treat.
This past Sunday, hours before WWE WrestleMania 33 took place in Orlando, FL Northeast Championship Wrestling presented our own version of MANIA when we hosted a special fundraiser for Abigail Garcia and the Garcia Family. A special thanks to all those who made it out in support of this great cause.
