On this Memorial Day please take time to remember the men and women who fought and died to ensure our lives in this amazing land. The American Soldier is responsible for ending slavery and the liberation of millions of people from totalitarian regimes. God bless them all.

Professor’s Notes: Doctor Ozone is now “a man without a country”. A new alliance is formed. Team #1 still dominant, and a new Heavyweight Champion. Quite a bit of significance in a two-hour show. Awesome.
Match videos will be available after 10:00 p.m EST May 23rd at our YouTube channel.
Match 1. The American Nightmares (Blade Runner & Mad Dog) v. Hugo Brito & Carlos. W – The American Nightmares
There must be a section in the rookie contracts that compels them to take matches in which they have no chance of victory, and a questionable chance of survival. This was one of those matches. The American Nightmares take their time with a methodical approach that flows like a thing of beauty. While the kids did managed to inflict some arm pain and a couple of flips on Mad Dog, we couldn’t help but feel that he was humoring them. The Nightmares double body slam Hugo when they were ready to end the match with a pin from Blade Runner.
Match 2. Trash Man Rob Roberts v. Evan Blake. W – Roberts
Young Blake came out and issued an open challenge. Foolish move with Roberts standing right there. The Trash Man taught the kid the meaning of a good old-fashioned beat down. After inflicting enough pain for his liking, Rob dropped the novice on his face and mercifully pinned him.
Match 3. Last Man Standing Match: Diabolical Scott Ledeur (with Annabel) v. The Maniacal Jack Krueger. – Double Count Out
The final battle of the insane. After a brutal contest the lights went out and the disembodied voice of presumably Annabel told the men that they must unite per the brothers of the moon. Krueger and Ledeur embraced and left together. It seems that a new and bizarre team has formed. We’ll see.
Match 4. $5000 Bounty Match: Big Dog Butler v. Buck Nasty. W – Butler (Count Out)
Commissioner Rocha is still sore about Buck Nasty body slamming his son, Referee Kyle Rocha. He has offered a $5000 bounty for any wrestler who defeats the giant. Nasty entered the ring and taunted both Mr. and Mrs. Rocha, saying “You take my title, I take out your kid”. Big Dog Butler took up the challenge. He is taller and at least as heavy as Nasty. The Big Dog gave Buck a scare, matching him move for move. Butler did something rarely done when he body slammed Mr. Nasty. He was conceivably on his way to the big pay day when Buck made up a lame excuse about sweat on the canvas being a slipping hazard, and left the ring area to be counted out. We assume that Butler didn’t get his cash. We have a feeling he’ll try again. Summer vacation season is upon us and we hear that a trip to Memphis is planned by Mr. Butler.
Doctor Ozone Addresses The Crowd
Doctor Ozone is a man alone. He apologized to the fans for his disloyal behavior and expressed regret at turning his back on The Fellowship who he called his “Family”. (Osiris is his nephew). The fans still hold The Manager of Champions in high esteem. We’ll see what his next move will be. We’d like to see him nurture a younger team up the ladder to a title.
Match 5. Tag Team Title Match: Team #1 (Richie Rich & Superstar Shawn Candido – Champions) v.The Fellowship (S.O.G. Ronnie Ribs & Osiris). W – Team #1
This rematch of rematches started before Doctor Ozone even left the ring. The Fellowship came out on fire and beat the tar out of Candido for the first portion of the match. S.O.G. Ronnie Ribs took exception to this ringside reporter’s positive comments on Team #1, calling him “The worst journalist in all of wrestling”. Everyone is entitled to his own opinion. Team #1 rallied and removed Osiris from the equation. Doctor Ozone reentered the room and attempted to pull Candido off the top rope. This backfired on him, and Rich and The Superstar hit the S.O.G. right where it hurts twice in a row followed by a classic Candido stomp to the back of the head and a pin. Team #1 wins fair-and-square.
Match 6. Heavyweight Championship: Nicholas Night (C) v. Cargill Vinton. W – Cargill Vinton – New Champion
Both men were 2-time champions going into this contest. It was a high energy match fueled by the new darkness inside Cargill Vinton, and Nick Night’s anger at his friend’s betrayal. At one point Cargill was on the floor and appeared to retrieve an unknown object from under the ring. Somehow the lights went out and a flame-like object was seen for an instant. When the lights went on Nick Night was on the canvas holding his eyes with his foot on the ropes. Vinton quickly re-entered the ring and pinned the Champion, becoming Champion himself for the third time. It appeared to some that Cargill used some sort of device to blind Nick, but given the darkness we could not definitively say. In our view Vinton won this fairly. Night was led out of the room by officials complaining that he couldn’t see. We’ll keep on this and let you know how it develops.

Re-invigorated by a terrific Shine Wrestling 42, Huracanrana and I found ourselves revisiting our proud and always growing collection of independent wrestling DVD/BluRays. That monthly PayPal statement; ouch!
To us, there’s arguably no live experience more invigorating than indy wrestling, mainly closeness to action and symbiosis between performer and observer. There’s something truly intoxicating in knowing both are literally required for magic to happen. Let alone the merch table as dual ‘thank yous’ after it all goes down! Huracanrana admits to a full hour of wind down, post event, before she can call it a night. Even at 7 months pregnant. (I’m convinced she’s giving birth to the future Ring Of Honor TV Champ.)
In revisiting our collection of said DVDs, I can’t help but be drawn to Pro Wrestling Guerilla (PWG)’s terrific ‘Battle of Los Angeles’ tournaments. Being shameless aficionados of Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling and Lucha Underground, this…

Match 1. Trash Man Rob Roberts v. Carlos. W – Carlos
The Trash Man was looking for a win after a few recent disappointments. Either could have won this when Carlos did cross body dive from top rope for the pin.
Match 2. Buck Nasty v. Dante. W – Dante
Dante held his own but in the end, brutality, size, and experience prevailed. Nasty Splash from top rope, pin. Nasty then proceeded to clothesline, body slam the young referee (who happens to be the Commissioner’s son) into semi-consciousness.
Match 3. Diabolical Scott Ledeur (with Annabel) v. The Maniacal Jack Krueger. W – Double Count Out
They are both beyond nuts. After a series of savage reciprocal beatings, Ledeur used a leaf bag he retrieved from under the ring to smother Krueger outside the ring. The referee called a double count out.
Match 4. Mr. Don Vega v. Chris Matrix. W – Mr. Vega
An excellent technical wrestling clinic in which the legend faced his former student who is a major force of his own in New England wrestling. Mr. Vega got Matrix in a modified bear hug, dropped him on his head, and pinned him clean.
Match 5. Foxy (Amanda Fox) v. Alisha Muldoon. W – Foxy
The feud continues. Foxy once again sneaks out of a splash in the turnbuckle and rolls up Alicia for the pin. Sure she used her feet on the ropes for leverage, but as mentioned before, The Professor deems this legal if the referee doesn’t see it.
Match 6. Kid Crazy v. Hugo Brito. W – Kid Crazy
Hugo is a trainee. Crazy is his annoyed trainer who thinks the kid has gotten too big for his britches. Brito was in front of his hometown friends and fans. Crazy decided to teach him a humbling lesson. Kid Crazy easily finishes off the trainee with a classic bulldog.
Match 7: Non-Title Tag Team Match: The Fellowship (Osiris & S.O.G. Ronnie Ribs) v. Team #1 (Superstar Shawn Candido & Richie Rich with Doctor Ozone – Champions). W – The Fellowship
The match had 2 stipulations: If the Fellowship win, they get a title shot and 5 minutes in the ring with Doctor Ozone.
Team #1 seemed to have things in hand despite a spirited offense by The Fellowship. Doctor Ozone was not able to cheat (much) so it could have gone either way.
The Fellowship did a double bulldog on Candido for the pin. Before The Fellowship could cash in on their five minutes in the ring with Doctor Ozone, Rich and Candido conducted a brutal beat down on the medical man. The Fellowship declined to pile on, given that Doctor Ozone was semi-conscious on the mat. He somehow left under his own power. No idea where this goes next.
Match 8: Heavyweight Championship: Nicholas Night (C) v. Cruising Chris Cruise. W – Night
A Cargill Vinton video was played after Mr. Night entered the ring leaving us with an expectation that he was the opponent. Cruise sneaked in from the back and tried to ambush The Champion. This was an extremely high energy match. We were not sure how Cruise earned multiple title shots after being finally put away by Matrix but after this weekend there is no doubt that he belongs in the top contender list. No one can say Chris Cruise has a glass jaw after the multiple jaw breakers applied by Nick Night. finishes Cruise with a dangerous flip.

Amanda Fox was the top performer of the night. The return of Anthony Catina (FKA The Magnificent Matthew King) after a 2-year sojourn to the West Coast was a surprise. He’s gotten much bigger and gained new skills. This man is going to be a factor if he sticks around.
(Videos will be available Monday 8 May after 10:00 p.m. EST on our YouTube Channel)
Match 1. Chris Matrix v. Anthony Catina. W – Matrix
We were all shocked to see what we thought was a new wrestler turn out to be a returned old friend. Anthony Catina used to be a SPW regular. He performed under the name “The Magnificent Matthew King”. He blew town for the West Coast two years ago in search of what he told us in an interview was more worthy competition. He’s completely transformed his body, now incredibly lean and muscular, and he has obviously learned some new skills in California. Matrix had a hard time with the youth. He underestimated him and even mocked his name, calling him “potato”. Catina went for the choke submission multiple times without a surrender. He applied serious punishment to the veteran, who in the end managed to slam him on his back for a pin. We hope Mr. Catina stays in area for a while so we can get a better look at his newfound repertoire.
Match 2. The Maniacal Jack Krueger v. The Diabolical Scott Ledeur (with Annabel). W – Krueger (DQ)
Return of the disturbed wrestlers. This was an aggressive match with both eccentrics pounding each other with vigor. Scott bashed Krueger in the face with his mask and for some reason Referee Rocha called a DQ. It was only a rubber mask.
Match 3. Amanda Fox v. Alicia Muldoon. W – Fox
Amanda Fox is Alicia Muldoon’s “Good Bad Luck”. Alicia has the good fortune to be paired repeatedly with a veteran master. This is amazing training for her. The bad news is that she has to take a beating show after show by a wily pro. Ms. Fox plays the psychology end of the game beautifully, high fiving Muldoon’s toddler daughter on the way to ring and proclaiming her “My biggest Fan”. Muldoon is getting better every month and took her beating like an adult, and even meted out some punishment of her own. Fox tricked Alicia into charging her in the corner, ducked and pinned the youngster fairly, using her feet on the ropes as leverage. This was perfectly “down the middle” as Fox was heard to say post match to a fan, since the Referee did not see it.
Match 4. Kid Crazy v. Hugo Brito. W – Brito
A rematch from last month’s show in Franklin. Teacher Crazy schooled Trainee Brito on the reality of pain in professional wrestling. Crazy had some line crossing banter with the fans in the back which may have been a factor in the result. After beating the crap out of the youngster, Crazy took too long climbing the corner for an expected match-ending Moonsault when Brito knocked him down. Crazy was stunned. Hugo took advantage and pinned him.
Match 5: Cargill Vinton v. Johnny Trice. W – Vinton
Some low-end fans made a remark about Mr. Vinton going back to the nursing home. That tore if for Trice. Vinton turned up the cruelty and taught the man from Agawam that sometimes you pay for others’ big mouths. After a savage beating, Mr. Vinton finishes Trice with a Neck Breaker and pin. For good measure he choked Trice with some athletic tape post bell.
Match 6. 18 Man Battle Royal. W – Carlos
At the end of a fairly short contest, Carlos was the last man standing. This was a nice reward after the beatings he has had to endure after being anointed Rookie of The Year in 2016.
Match 7: Tag Team #1 Contender Match: The American Nightmares (Blade Runner & Mad Dog Matt Storm) v. The Middlesex Express (Steven Lust & Steven Broad) v. The Fellowship (S.O.G. Ronnie Ribs & Dante). W – TAN (Count Out)
Three top teams take turns beating each other, forming and breaking alliances, and generally applying violence to one and all. The American Nightmares wisely sat back for the most part and allowed The Middlesex Express and The Fellowship to wear each other out. Those teams handed The American Nightmares the victory by foolishly allowing themselves to be counted out.
Match 8: Tag Team Non-Title Match: Team Number One (Richie Rich & Superstar Shawn Candido) v. Mack Attack (Monster Mack & Trainee #1). W – Mack Attack
By some sort of miracle, Trainee #1 rolled up The Superstar and got an indisputable pin. This is what happens when Doctor Ozone isn’t around. Mack Attack earns a title match next week in Millville, MA.
Match 9. Heavyweight Title Contest: Nicholas Night (C) v. Chris Cruise. W – Night
The best night of a champion’s life is the night he wins the title. Then he finds he has no friends (friends already a rare commodity in professional wrestling) and everyone in the world is after what is his. Chris Cruise recently concluded a feud with Matrix (another contender) and has proven himself to be a skilled ring technician. He gave Nick Night a painful and difficult evening of defending his title. Night finishes things with a very risky flip and pin. Cruise deserves a spot on the top of the contender list regardless.
