Professor’s Notes: Another great night at The Moose, the smallest wrestling room in New England. Congratulations to The Bitter Club for a sportsmanlike effort at winning the Tag Team Championship. You guys deserve it for all you do for wrestling and the community. Will The Bitter Club invoke The Freebird Rule? We certainly hope so.
Match videos will be available after 9:00 p.m EST 22 May. at our YouTube channel.
Match 1. Superstar Shawn Candido v. Carlos Esteban. W – Candido
Esteban unwisely entered the ring area without the benefit of his Bitter Club colleagues. He may have gotten cocky and thought that he could easily defeat the veteran. Mr. Candido posited this statement to Carlos: “It must be real hard being the twin brother of Jesus and suck at wrestling”. Carlos was not pleased and he proceeded to try to put The Superstar in what he considers his place. It didn’t work. The veteran humbled the Bitter Club member. Mr. Don Vega emerged from the back to taunt Carlos. This distraction allowed The Superstar to finish things with a signature stomp to the back and pin.
Match 2. Sons of Liberty Championship: Diabolical Scott Ledeur (Champion, with Annabelle) v. Alec Price (with Alicia Muldoon). W – Ledeur (DQ)
We understand that the kid from The Bell Time Club has heat but how many bites at the apple does one man get while there are so many worthy contenders across The Northeast? Price is an up-and-comer, no doubt. He’s getting better (and bigger) through the tutelage of Beau Douglas and Benny Jux. Tonight he just couldn’t find a way to beat the madman. He ended up using the belt to bonk Ledeur on the head, drawing a disqualification.
Match 3. Chris Matrix v. Noriega. W – Noriega
Chris Matrix is justifiably upset that newcomer Noriega was given a title shot at Ribs that should have been his. It appears that Noriega’s appearance last month in Taunton was not a one-off. That’s good for SPW. Matrix might have won this had he not had the bad luck of landing on his nads in the corner ropes while charging the man from Puerto Rico. Noriega ascended the ropes and took the former Champion out with a flying neck breaker and a pin.
Match 4. Heavyweight Championship: S.O.G. Ronnie Ribs (C) v. Buck Nasty. W – Ribs
Nasty is still bitter about losing the Heavyweight Championship some time ago. SPW is full of active former champions (There were 7 in one room at a recent show) so what’s the big deal? Finally Nasty faces a man near his size. He came close a few times but Ribs did not roll over easily and avoided the Nasty Splash. Ribs finishes the big man with a bulldog and pin.
Match 5. Tag Team Championship : Team #1 (The Stacked Deck (Mike Montero & Chris Cruise, Champions) v. The Bitter Club (Buddy Romano & Sensational Scott Levesque with Carlos Esteban). W – The Bitter Club – New Champions
Match of the night. Romano and Levesque were laser focused. Both teams used the liberality of Referee Roberts effectively and double-teamed the other. This was a brutal contest all throughout.
The Stacked deck had Buddy set up for doom with Cruise holding him high and Montero climbing the ropes for the kill. The Premiere Wrestler of New England, Sensational Scott Levesque, knocked Montero to the ground and pushed Cruise. Buddy fell on top of him and capitalized for the pin. Despite a vigorous defense, The Stacked Deck lost fair-and-square.
