Professor’s Notes: This was the second show for Richie Rich’s new promotion and our first. We were honored to be allowed to tape the matches from ringside. Usually we put stills in the report and post the matches to YouTube later but given the state of the lighting in the room and Mr. Rich’s clearance to post the videos immediately, we are embedding them here.
Great to see so many old friends in a new format. We had the pleasure of re-acquainting ourselves with Hall-of-Famer Ricky Sexton. If that was not enough, Sudan’s Greatest Athlete, Sheik Ahmed Jordan, granted us a brief audience before the show. It was a bit intimidating being in the presence of royalty, but we managed to maintain our composure.
Match videos are available now at our YouTube channel.
Match 1. The Bruiser Weight Maze v. Malik Logan. W – Logan (DQ)
Malik is a big, strong kid who should have had no trouble getting rid of the diminutive Maze. Maze brings skill from years of working in Florida. Different sneaky skills than Logan has likely seen before. Referee Rocha disqualified Maze just because he kicked Logan in the crotch. What a rip off. A rematch was proposed by Logan on mic after the match.
Match 2. Handicap Match: Blade Runner v. TNT (Mark Mahoney & Tommy Lane with Coach). W – Blade Runner
Blade Runner is slowing down just a tad now that he’s a senior worker but there’s no connection to that and his effectiveness. Perhaps he doesn’t need to move fast to get the job done so why bother getting sweaty? Blade Runner confounded basically 3 men from Maine. They had no idea how to counter his style. When Blade Runner got tired of the pests he threw the fireplug Mahoney out of the ring like he was a used gum wrapper and easily dispatched Lane with a neck breaker and a casual pin. Poor Maniacs. Blade Runner’s methodical devastation of his opponents a treat to watch.
Match 3. Nakoma Tala v. Chris James. Double Count Out
Chris James was screwed either way in this match. If he won, he’d be a cad who beat up a woman. If he lost, he would be a wimp. He tried to take the middle ground, showing his dominance throughout but never closing the deal. Nakoma Tala did a decent job of fighting, inflicting pain of her own. This ended as a double count out. Both wrestlers left the room frustrated. This may continue.
Match 4. Triple Threat: Chris Matrix v. Buck Nasty v. Superstar Shawn Candido. W – Candido
Three men who have held championships and know each other well. All in their prime and seasoned competitors. Of course they were going to inflict pain on each other and interfere in multiple pin attempts. Candido gets the win by pulling a prostate Matrix out of the way of Buck Nasty’s top rope splash attempt and then quickly entering the ring, stomping Nasty’s head from behind, and pinning him. They don’t call him The Superstar for nothing.
Match 5. Sheik Ahmed Jordan v. Richie Rich (with Ricky Sexton). W – Rich (DQ)
Watching Richie Rich wrestle scientifically is a pleasure. Seeing him with a worthy opponent like Sheik Ahmed Jordan makes it all the better. Both men performed beautifully and it seemed fairly even until The Sheik had Richie in a camel clutch which might have ended things had not Mr. Rich been able to crawl back to his corner. The Sheik then applied a headlock while Mr. Sexton discreetly held onto his leg (unseen by Referee Warren). The Sheik didn’t break after a 5 count and Mr. Warren disqualified him. This was unfair in our view.
Match 6: Diabolical Scott Ledeur (with Annabelle) v. The Maniacal Jack Krueger. W – Krueger
The sickest match of the night by two of the most unbalanced and sadistic workers in the region. It boggles the mind how two humans can mete out and take so much punishment. Mercifully, it finally ended when Krueger bulldogged Ledeur on the apron. He then pinned the stunned mental patient for the win. Scott Revived after the bell and ambushed Krueger for some bonus beating. Both men walked out on their own power to our amazement.
Match 7: The Bitter Club (Sensational Scott Levesque & Carlos Esteban with Emotional Support Person Ruby Bastein) v. Kuma & Donny Rotten. W – The Bitter Club
Match of the night. We didn’t know what to expect from the team of Kuma and Rotten but they worked together beautifully. Rotten, who we have seen a few times before, surprised us with his skill and energy. Ruby earned his pay by effective distraction of Referee Warren on multiple, critical points in the match. Kuma and Rotten had Esteban and Levesque pinned clean to no avail, thanks to Ruby. Ruy again occupied the referee as Esteban ran in and reversed Rotten’s pin of Levesque unseen by Warren. The Bitter Club wins again.
