New Heavyweight Champion S.O.G. Ronnie Ribs Addresses The Fans
The new title holder came out to greet his loyal fans when former Champion Chris Matrix, embittered by what he thought was a stolen championship, objected strenuously. This included a naughty word which almost never happens in SPW (parents, don’t worry – we bleeped it in the video). Ribs aspires to be a fighting champion so he granted a rematch later in the evening.
Match 1. Superstar Shawn Candido v. Osiris (with Doctor Ozone) v. Alec Price (with Alicia Muldoon). W – Price
This match was mostly a Candido and Osiris beat down of the punk from Boston until Osiris and Doctor Ozone got too cute by half. Osiris attempted to force his affections on Alicia who responded with a switch punch to his nether regions. This incapacitated Osiris completely and Doctor Ozone was left uncharacteristically confused as what to do about it. Price was then able somehow to pin The Superstar. Embarrassing ending for two former champions by the upstart from The Bell Time Club.
Match 2. Carlos Esteban (with Sensational Scott Levesque & Buddy Romano) v. Hugo Brito (with Mr. Don Vega & Cargill Vinton). W – Brito
Mr. Vega appeared to make progress of sorts in his efforts to enlist Cargill Vinton to his side. When The Bitter Club entered Mr. Vega said some disparaging comments about Buddy’s “identity” and The Premier Wrestler of New England. He insisted and Referee Roberts complied with removing Romano and Levesque from the ring area. Carlos should have fairly easily beat young Brito but Don Vega came back in the room and distracted him, allowing Brito to roll him up for the pin. A “Bitter” lesson for the man from Portland.
Match 3. Sergeant Muldoon v. MIA II. W – Muldoon
This match was really just Muldoon’s way of sending a message to hated enemy Alec Price, who in his mind turned his niece against him. MIA II was mostly a prop, taking a beating and showing the world that the WWF veteran is still capable of beating the *&#@ out of someone.
Match 4. Sons of Liberty Championship: Diabolical Scott Ledeur (with Annabelle) v. Big Dawg Butler. W – Ledeur
The big man is getting closer to a title that could very conceivably be his soon. He’s huge, brutal, and surprisingly quick for such a large guy. He could have done it tonight but Ledeur got out of the way of the Memphis Train and rode the giant’s back with his knee all the way to the mat. Big Dawg comes up short again and protests he was “screwed over”. If I held a title in SPW I’d be concerned about this Dark Horse lurking just around the corner.
Match 5. Tag Team Championship: The Stacked Deck (Chris Cruise & Mike Montero) v. The Bitter Club (Buddy Romano & Sensational Scott Levesque with Carlos Esteban). W – The Stacked Deck
The Bitter Club displayed the most intelligent double teaming (legal) seen in many years in this area. They should have taken the titles despite Cruise’s toughness and Montero’s quickness. The interference of Vega and Vinton (with chairs) was the determining factor. Vinton tricked Buddy into catching a chair and Referee Roberts disqualified him.
The Bitter Club may have made too many enemies too fast. A two front war is tough to fight in professional wrestling. We believe that The Bitter Club will ultimately prevail. It’s their time.
Match 6. Dante (with Doctor Ozone) v. Buck Nasty. W – Nasty
Dante once again shows courage and demonstrates why he is no longer called “The Apprentice” by facing the giant Buck Nasty. Dante showed heart and skill but in the end fell to a Nasty body slam and pin. Doctor Ozone did what he could but it’s impossible to influence a malevolent force like Buck Nasty from outside the ring. He wants to hurt people – and he does.
Match 7. Reverend Redemption v. MIA I. W – Redemption
It took the good Reverend all of 5 minutes to dispatch the man from New Zealand. He didn’t even break a sweat. Great to see a revered hall of famer still able to bring it.
Match 8. Heavyweight Championship. S.O.G. Ronnie Ribs (C) v. Chris Matrix. W – Ribs (DQ)
Matrix spent most of this match poking Ribs in the eyes in retaliation for the reason he feels he was robbed of his title. Punishment was meted by both men, who are equal in talent and skill. Matrix was finally disqualified for some reason when he punched Referee Roberts in the face.
