The Boss: Dean “The Beast” Livesly
Professor’s Notes: We finally made it back to NCW after 13 months away. Travel schedules conspired to interfere with our monthly run to Norwood. Great to be back. Seeing Scott Levesque and Osiris tangle was worth the trip. You can read NCW’s official report here.
1. Verne Vicallo (with Timmy Thunder) v. The Abominable CPA. W – CPA
Vicallo is as arrogant as ever and the selfie gimmick won’t die. Despite Thunder’s vigorous efforts at interference, The CPA held his ground, rolling up Vicallo for a pin which The Selfie Made Man seemed to blame on his corner man.
2. The Classic Connection (Buddy Royal & Levi Shapiro with Perry Von Vicious) v. The Aristocrats (Tomahawk & Zachary Pierre Beaulieu). W – The Aristocrats
Royal kept challenging Tomahawk to a Greco-Roman Wrestling Style match. The Native American did not take him seriously and the match was an old school slug fest. Von Vicious did a lot of damage from the corner but ended up sustaining as much himself as he caused. Beaulieu & Tomahawk finish things with a double pin on Royal which was allowed by the referee. After the bell members of The Anarchy stormed in and damaged Beaulieu’s knee with the bell.
3. New England Championship: Alexander Lee v. Dan Ram Ramirez (C). W – Ramirez
These were evenly matched wrestlers. It could have gone either way. So down the middle. Ramirez gets the pin and retains his title.
4. Todd Harris (with Mr. O’Reilly) v. Curry Boy. W – Curry Boy
Harris should have won this match. He clearly was the superior wrestler and had help from O’Reilly. If he hadn’t stopped to laugh heartily at a group of fans, he would never have been rolled up by the eccentric Curry Boy. He did this to himself. Todd proceeded to have a drawn out temper tantrum in the ring after his loss.
5. Tag Team Championship: Turtles in Time (Insane Dick Lane and Steve “The Turtle Weiner with Delilah Hayden) v. The Maine State Posse (C)(Aiden Agro & Danger Kid with Alexander Lee). W – Turtles in Time (DQ)
The Maine State Posse dominated. Their slogan “The Way Wrestling Should Be” fits. Despite being heckled as “Wendy”, Danger Kid was the athlete of the night with original and acrobatic moves. The Posse beat down Steve The Turtle badly with a lobster float and were disqualified for it. Steve had to be helped backstage. Unexpectedly a masked woman came out and put Delilah into a DDT. Not a good night for The Turtles.
6. Ox Baker Memorial Cup: “Foxy” Calvin Campbell v. Frank The Crank. W – Campbell
We’ve been away so long we didn’t know that Frank had come out of retirement. He looks great. Calvin realized that the size differential was not to his advantage so he tried strategy. He left the building and Frank followed. Frank was unable to locate him and returned to the ring. Calvin ambushed Frank but it had little effect. It seemed that Mr. Campbell would not be able to counter the beating Frank was providing when he got hold of the Ox Baker Memorial Cup and beaned Frank with it. Frank was unable to recover and Calvin pinned him to take the prize.
7. Heavyweight Championship: Osiris (with Doctor Ozone) v. Sensational Scott Levesque (C). W – Levesque (DQ)
The two superstars argued over who was the rightful king. This was hard for us to watch because we admire both of these athletes so much. Doctor Ozone was continually complaining that Mr. Levesque was not fighting a square match. We saw no evidence of cheating, perhaps unconventional wrestling, but all on the level. Levesque managed to drop Osiris on his back on the apron 3 times in rapid succession. Doctor Ozone was finally ejected. Calvin Campbell crawled into ringside unseen by the referee (hence fair) and caused some damage to Osiris. Chaos ensued and when Ozone returned, a disqualification was called. The Premiere Wrestler in New England keeps his title.
8. Big City Rumble. W – Mike Paiva
These battle royal type events are impossible to describe without resorting to replay tape. This contest was one in which a new wrestler enters at short intervals. Some highlights were Ramirez double clotheslining both Kool People over the top rope, Scott Levesque self-eliminating after taking out The Lumberjake, and the number of truly big men beating the tar out of each other. The final 4 were Kellan Thomas, Alexander Lee, Mike Paiva, and Mike Montero. The Lumberjake from outside accidentally eliminates Thomas. Lee ejected Montero. Paiva takes out Lee. Ike somehow sneaked back in (not sure if he was still somehow legal) and attacked The Showoff from behind with no effect. Mike Paiva wins it all.
