Another great night in the center of the New England Wrestling Universe.

(Videos will be available Monday 10 April after 10:00 p.m. EST on our YouTube Channel)

New Heavyweight Champion Nicholas Night Addresses The Fans

Mr. Night is on his second run as SPW Champion. He took some time to express his views including his sadness at the fact that his old friend, former SPW Champion, Cargill Vinton, had betrayed him during the evening of his victory over Buck Nasty. Night was interrupted by the offstage voice of Cargill Vinton, who in a rather cryptic and dark diatribe, explained his perspective and made it clear that he intends to dethrone Nick Night. (We interviewed Mr. Vinton after the show. We tried to get to the bottom of things but this is still an incomprehensible and fluid situation. Check out the video on our YouTube channel)

Match 1. Chris Matrix v. RL Lane. W – Matrix

Matrix incessantly mocked the alleged telepathic powers of RL Lane all through the match. Lane gave some punishment but never managed to get his powers activated. Matrix slams him on his back for the pin and RL Lane limps home.

Match 2. Jack Krueger & Alicia Muldoon v. Amanda Fox & Diabolical Scott Ledeur (with Annabel). W – Fox & Ledeur

Impromptu teams of two men and two women who hate each other. The hoped for tag team flow never really materialized as the existing feuds dominated the contest. Ledeur ended up doing what he’s done before: Brutalizing Alicia, knocking the wind out of her to set up Fox for the easy pin. This happened because Krueger was momentarily immobilized by one of his psychotic episodes. Good times.

Match 3. Robbie “The Giant” Araujo & Brian Partington v. The Fellowship (Dante & S.O.G. Ronnie Ribs). W – The Fellowship

This was a weird match. Brian Partington returned to wrestling and teaming with Araujo after a hiatus. Both teams struggled to deal with the other, size and style disparities making it difficult for either side to gain the clear advantage. Brian tried a top rope dive onto Ribs. Ribs held onto the diminutive wrestler, slamming him for the pin.

Robbie Punishes The Punk. Image: The Wrestling Professor

Match 4. Big Dog Butler v. Carlos. W – Butler

Carlos brought his A game but was unable in the end to cope with the massive size of Big Dog Butler. For such a big man, Mr. Butler brings speed and a surprising variety of moves. Carlos made some headway with flying elbows off the top rope but The Big Dog finished things with an inescapable Frog Splash and pin.

Match 5: Three Way Elimination: Mack Attack (Monster Mack & Trainee #1) v. Team Number One (Superstar Shawn Candido & Richie Rich with Doctor Ozone) v. The Harris Country Club (Todd Harris & Malik Logan). W – Team Number One

The Champions let The Harris Country Club and Mack Attack soften each other up for quite some time before they actively entered the contest. Candido pins Harris and for some reason Mack Attack left the ring area.  They were sent back by Sgt. Muldoon. Monster Mack double clotheslined Rich and Candido and went up top when Doctor Ozone grabbed his feet resulting in his falling on his crotch. Dazed, Candido stomped his head and pinned him clean. Victory as usual for Team Number One. Pure Genius on Doctor Ozone’s part.

Match 6. Yankee Pro Wrestling Reunion 3-Way Match: Trash Man Rob Roberts v. Steven Lust (with Mr. Chad Epik) v. The Blade Runner. W – Lust

Blade Runner and Roberts teamed up to keep Steven Lust on defense for most of the match. Fortunately for Lust, he had master manager Chad Epik in his corner. Epik kept the giant Blade Runner from doing his worst, though Roberts applied more than his share of punishment to the man from Lowell. Mr. Epik distracts Blade Runner by handling his sword outside the ring allowing Lust to pin The Trash Man.

Match 7. Heavyweight Title Contest: Nicholas Night (C) v. Chris Cruise. W – Night

This was Mr. Night’s first title defense since winning the Gauntlet For The Gold last month. Chris Cruise is done with his Matrix rivalry, and brought a lot to this contest. He’s getting better every month and there were plenty of moments in this fight when he was a real threat. Cruise managed to throw Night on his face but The Champion quickly countered with a roll up and a pin that to this reporter looked like only a two count. Both wrestlers are at the top of their games. Cruise continues to lurk as a top contender.

After the show we were able to interview Cargill Vinton and get his thoughts on his new state of mind. We admit to being confused about what is going on with the former Champion. Things are about to get very dark at SPW.

Professor’s Notes: Marchiversary XI was beyond sold out. The room was packed and the fans got more than their money’s worth. We’ve attended SPW shows regularly for the past three years and can honestly say that this was the best event yet. It’s so nice in these troubled wrestling times to see a family business grow and evolve the way Showcase has done. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Match videos will be available after 10:00 p.m EST 28 March at our YouTube channel.

Match 1. Heavyweight Championship Match: Buck Nasty (C) v. Nicholas Night.  – No Contest

Nick accidentally took out Referee Belair with a flying drop kick off the top rope.  As he was dazed Buck took Nick’s steel chain off his neck and wrapped it around his fist. Buck tried to use it for the K.O. but Nick avoided the blow and dropped Nasty’s face on his knees and rolled him for a pin. Referee Carter ran into the ring and counted to three, declaring Night the winner. Mr. Belair revived and tried to reverse the decision (reason unclear).  Nasty entered the ring in rage and attacked both referees who wisely fled. Commissioner Rocha got into the ring to bring some order and was promptly KO’d by Nasty. Nasty then attacked Sgt. Muldoon, who fought back hard. Promoter Blackheart and former Champion Benny Blanco inserted themselves but were unable to mollify Buck Nasty. Sgt. finally announced that Referee Belair disqualified Buck Nasty which meant a Nick Night win but no title change. Mr. Muldoon informed the room that the Heavyweight Title is “held up” (vacated) and would be determined by the outcome of the Gauntlet For The Gold later in the evening. Mr. Nasty proclaimed that he would “bury SPW” and left in disgust.

Match 2. Alicia v. Delilah v. Foxy. W – No Contest

We expected Foxy and Delilah to gang up on Face Alicia but they beat each other up as much as the fan favorite during a fairly even contest. Alicia managed a double bulldog and might have gotten an advantage had Scott Ledeur not entered the ring uninvited and destroyed all three women in succession. Before Ledeur could be coaxed backstage his rival Jack Krueger entered with doll Annabel in a little red wagon. This naturally upset Scott. Referee Carter declared no contest.

Match 3. Chris Matrix v. “Cruisin” Chris Cruise. W – Matrix

Stipulation: If one wrestler’s feet hit the floor during the match, instant loss. A culmination of a months long feud. A fairly even, brutal contest that could have gone either way until both men were on the apron. Cruise clotheslined Matrix back into the ring for some reason. Matrix quickly capitalized, kicking Cruise through the ropes and onto the floor.

Match 4.  Tag Team Championship: “Team Number One” (Richie Rich & Superstar Shawn Candido with Doctor Ozone) v. “The Harris Country Club” (Todd Harris & Malik Logan) with special referee S.O.G. Ronnie Ribs. W – Team Number One

Team Number One were displeased to say the least at the appointment of the S.O.G. as special referee. This is a man who they not only relieved of his tag team title, but took his manager in the process. Mr. Ribs promised to call the match straight, but continually came up with super slow counts every time Rich or Candido had the youths pinned. This went on for 15 minutes when Harris came flying and knocked our camera out of commission. We quickly switched to the Samsung Phone and captured the rest of the match.

Experience Matters. Image: The Wrestling Professor

Number One. Image: The Wrestling Professor

He Has to Acknowledge The Victors. Image: The Wrestling Professor

In minute 20 Candido kicked young Harris in the head (trademark move) and got him in a pin that even Ribs could not stop with a slow count. Ribs dejectedly counted 3 and declared the champions victorious. He then received a well-deserved beat down by Rich, Candido, and Ozone until he was saved by Fellowship partners Osiris and Dante.

Match 5. “The Punisher” Mr. Don Vega v. Tommy Mack v. Osiris. W – Osiris

All three men have beefs with each other so this was a good vehicle for resolution. The antagonists beat the crap out of each other for quite some time until an exhausted Osiris knocked Mr. Vega to the floor and countered a Tommy Mack charge, throwing Mack on his face for the pin.

The Legendary Mr. Vega. Image: The Wrestling Professor

Match 6. Gauntlet For The Gold. W – Nicholas Night

TGFTG is a 30-man rumble-style event held annually at Marchiversary. Contestants are chosen at random and enter at intervals of a few minutes.  This year, due to monkey business in the opening Heavyweight Championship contest, the winner of the Gauntlet is the new Heavyweight Champion.  Todd Harris was the first to be called, followed by Steven Lust.

Lust & Harris. Image: The Wrestling Professor

Battle Royal matches can sometimes be a bore, but this was anything but. Scores were settled, talents showcased, alliances formed and betrayed. Great all around.  In the end Nicholas Night removed rival Buck Nasty for the final conclusion to their blood feud.

Mayhem. Image: The Wrestling Professor

Madness. Image: The Wrestling Professor

A bloodied Cargill Vinton came into the ring post victory to congratulate his long-time friend. Instead he knocked him cold. The new champion was dazed for quite some time but managed to leave the room under his own power.  We believe this is the third title reign in SPW for the 18-year veteran.

Professor’s Notes: Legend Don Vega on the card was more than enough. SPW continues to feature top talent. Tommy Mack and Jack Krueger return. A Women’s Division is in development. Tonight we got to see a new female star, Madame Butterfly. 2017 is off to a roaring start for this company.

Match videos will be available after 10:00 p.m EST 7 February at our YouTube channel.

Match 1. Diabolical Scott Ledeur (with Annabel) v. Chris Matrix. W – Matrix

Scott’s recovery continues. He’s still “special” but his focus is improving, allowing him to use his considerable powers. He really beat up on Matrix (who reciprocated brutally). It seems that Mr. Ledeur is insensible to pain which is a huge competitive advantage. Matrix got the pin, exclaiming that no matter how crazy Ledeur is, he knows him. We feel that Ledeur, if he continues on this path, could contend for the SPW Heavyweight Championship. Has there ever been a mentally disturbed champion?

Lockdown Segment: Sgt. Muldoon,Buck Nasty, Nick Night, Chris Cruise, and Tommy Mack

This was supposed to be Buck’s spot but he was crowded out by the other aspirants. This is what a champion has to put up with. Tommy Mack claimed not to know who Mr. Nasty was, which was quite the insult. Buck kept his cool and left intact.

Match 2. Carlos v. Dante. W – Carlos

SPW is a school and as such develops young talent like Carlos and Dante. This is one of the prime reasons the company is able to offer consistent rich cards. Carlos applies his Bulldog followed by a pin. Dante raises his hand in an example of good sportsmanship.

Match 3. Trash Man Rob Roberts v. The Maniacal Jack Krueger. W – Krueger

Mr. Roberts was tentative at first, given Krueger’s bizarre behavior and history but he ended up giving an explosive performance. He’s waiting for partner Joe to heal, but in the meantime is performing well as a singles wrestler. Krueger is Krueger – hard to read and impossible to predict. Krueger escapes a Gator Roll and puts Rob away with a Bulldog.

Match 4.  “The Punisher” Don Vega v. Osiris. W – Osiris (DQ)

The legend meets one of the most effective workers on the scene today. This may have been one of the toughest matches of Osiris’ career. Mr. Vega dominated most of the match. Just because Mr. Vega used a flagpole on Osiris’ abdomen, the referee stole a definitive result from the fans, awarding the match to Osiris on a DQ.

Match 5. Nick Night v. Chris Cruise. W – Night

Chris Cruise has been causing problems in other people’s matches for weeks and finally someone of stature decided to do something about it. After a spirited and mostly even contest, Night cracked Cruise’s face on his knees, sending him out of the ring and into the orbit of a taunting Chris Matrix. Night wins by count out.

Match 6. Alicia Muldoon v. Madame Butterfly. W – Madame Butterfly

Foxy was once again the special referee and the person responsible for brining a new talent to SPW, Madame Butterfly from Paris, France. Alicia did her best to deal with sketchy officiating (her view, not ours. Foxy played it straight in our opinion) and a much bigger and stronger woman opponent. Madam Butterfly dominated and finished Alicia with a Sunset Flip and pin (Foxy accidentally interfered). Krueger then came out with Annabelle (Scott Ledeur’s doll) and taunted the Parisian for some reason.

Alicia dared put hands on the referee. She should probably be suspended for attacking a licensed referee.

Match 7. Non-Title Match: Heavyweight Champion Buck Nasty v. “Heart Attack” Tommy Mack. W – Mack

Buck Nasty had a rough weekend. After a shock loss to Matrix on Friday, he loses again to Mack. Mack took advantage of Nick Night wresting Mack’s ball peen away from Buck to finish The Champion with a spear and a pin.  Buck’s head must be spinning. He needs some quiet contemplation in a secure location to get his mind back in the game and the realities of having to defend the title.

Match 8. Team Number 1 (Richie Rich & Superstar Shawn Candido with Doctor Ozone) v. The Harris Country Club (Todd Harris & Malik Logan). W – The Harris Country Club (DQ)

We give credit to The Harris Country Club for taking on the veteran champions. It’s almost impossible to beat them when Doctor Ozone is at ringside. The kids did well and had a good chance until Mr. Rich accidentally bumped the referee who fell to the floor unconscious. Sadly, he revived and disqualified The Champions. All three members of Team Number 1 extracted a savage revenge, beating down the youths without mercy.

Lockdown: Buck Nasty, Nick Night, Chris Cruise with Sgt. Muldoon

Buck Nasty littered the ring with pages of the SPW newsletter while justifying his choices during his current title run. Nick Night made his case as the number one contender. Pretender Cruisin’ Chris Cruise once again sticks his nose where it doesn’t belong. He was given a contenders match later in the evening with predictable consequences.

Krueger and Lane were well-matched. Despite his Telekinesis, Lane was not able to get a handle on Krueger. The Maniac deftly dealt with the interfering Scott Ledeur and dropped Lane on his head followed by a pin. Krueger is back baby. A showdown with Scott Ledeur is inevitable.

Match 3. SPW Test Match: Osiris v. Dante. W – Osiris

Billed as a SPW Test Match of the young Dante, Osiris worked the apprentice hard. The kid stood up to one of the most explosive wrestlers in The Northeast. Perhaps its time to promote Dante to full partner in The Fellowship based on his talent and skill. Not to mention that S.O.G. Ronnie Ribs will be out for a while and Doctor Ozone lurks nearby at all times. Osiris pins the kid and they walked out of the ring area as partners in pride.

Match 4. Diabolical Scott Ledeur (with Annabelle) v. Derek Conway. W – Ledeur

Mr. Ledeur seems to be getting more of a handle on his emotions despite continuing mental challenges. This is bad news for all opponents. He has the strength, skill, and twisted imagination to defeat anyone in New England. If he continues to get it together, watch out. Scott was able to handle the taunting presence of Jack Krueger at ringside to put away young Conway, who had some good moves but stood little chance against the former Champion.

Team Number 1 was less than enthused at being confronted with a match against The Harris Country Club (Todd Harris & Malik Logan) who in a fluke, beat them last month. The kids fell for the same stunt as last time as The Middlesex Express (Steven Lust & Steven Broad with Chad Epik) ambushed them again. Team Number 1 took a well-deserved break as Lust & Broad proceeded to destroy the young team. The kids have a huge upside but currently few can best TME.

With the return of Mack Attack, the tag team division is deep with talent. It will take every bit of Doctor Ozone’s massive brain to retain the titles.

For the nth time a wrestler interferes in a rival’s match. Chris Cruise cost Buck Nasty the satisfaction of beating Matrix. Nasty tried to remove the interloper and Matrix capitalized, kicking Buck in the back, sending him to the canvas, and pinning him. Buck then went into a state of apparent shock, having to be removed from the ring area by SPW officials.  Matrix must be named number one contender after this evening in our opinion.
