Our brain trust was excited and a bit nervous for this event. We knew that all the elements were in place for an event as amazing as The Iron 8 but would women in the end be willing and able to meet the threshold of violence and intensity of the men’s version? The answer is an emphatic yes. Edward Wise (notable NE wrestling authority and friend of this site) said to us that the participants in this tournament surpassed the quality of the men’s 2016 Iron 8. He’s measured in his praise so this is a big statement.
Our take is that this show removed the last few molecules of doubt about whether or not women’s wrestling is on complete par with men’s wrestling. Women are now 100% on the level of their male counterparts. You need to see the WWW product live. (WWW will release this event on DVD).
Standout Performer of The Night: Sonya Strong hands down. What a treat to be able to see this superstar in action.
Vanity Vixsen showed that she belongs in the top-tier of NE Women.
Format: 4 one-on-one matches with the winners facing each other in a 30-minute Iron Women match with no DQ. Winner scores most pin falls or submissions and is awarded the Iron Maiden trophy as well as the vacant WWW championship title.
1. Vanity Vixsen v. Tequila Rose. W – Vixsen
Vanity Vixsen had a relatively easy time of it, beating the less experienced Rose by dropping her on her face for a quick pin.
2. Sonya Strong v. MJ Jenkins. W – Strong
Sonya Strong took to the mic and objected to the two women from NYC being put in the same match. She noted that Jenkins is a friend and that they drove up together. She then Pearl Harbored Ms. Jenkins and proceeded to hurt her badly. Strong dodged a splash in corner, rolled up Jenkins using her feet on the ropes, and got the pin. Who ever heard of friends in Statecraft or Professional Wrestling?
3. Solo Darling v. Alexxis Nevaeh. W – Nevaeh
Solo brought her usual sugar drink infused energy to this contest. She seemed on track to win until Alexxis took her beverage and used it to dominate the diminutive wrestler like one does when a pet wants a treat. She then sneaked a pin on the sugar creature. A bit of a disappointment as Solo Darling would have been great in the final match.
4. Nikki Valentine v. Mistress Belmont. W – Mistress Belmont
One of Valentine’s best matches. She demonstrated her ample technical abilities all match long. Before the bell even sounded she threw Belmont into a table standing up against the wall. 6 tables fell on the former champion who somehow got up and smashed Nikki over the head with a trash can. Mayhem ensued with Belmont getting the pin.
5. Feature Match: Heavyweight Championship: Todo Loco (C) v. Sensational Scott Levesque (with Miss Sammi Lane). W – Todo Loco
New England’s Premiere Wrestler entered the room berating and pushing around his valet for some reason. It appeared that he blames her for his frustration at not gaining the title which should have been his years ago. “The Man” should have put more concentration on Todo Loco. Underestimating Todo Loco is a big mistake as Mike McCarthy can attest. The Mexican finished The Man by jumping on his chest from the top. Post match, Sammi got her revenge with an audible smack in the face to Mr. Levesque. We don’t understand why The Man is not NECW Champion. When he brings his A game, he will be.
6. Feature Tag Team Match: Team Sea Stars (Delmi Exo & Ashley Vox) v. Kaitlin Diemond & Toxis. W – Team Sea Stars
Team Sea Stars had trouble with the impromptu pairing of the substantial Toxis with the Canadian Sensation. Vox suicide dived Toxis on the floor and Diemond clearly pinned Delmi Exo. The Referee declared Exo was not the legal woman. While the Canadian argued her case Vox smartly sneaked back in the ring and got the pin. We’d like to see more of Diemond. She showed strength, skill, and stratagem.
7. Iron Maiden Final: Vanity Vixsen v. Mistress Belmont v. Alexxis Nevaeh v. Sonya Strong. W – Nevaeh
All four women gave it their all, with non-stop brutality from before the bell even sounded. As usual in a four-way, alliances formed and dissolved, bitter one-on-one contests happened in and out of the ring. Strong managed to get revenge on Nevaeh for the humiliating stink face attack in Brockton last month. Strong smashed a pizza box on Alexxis’ face, leading to Alexxis applying a hot slice to her own comely visage. One of hundreds of notable spots was when Vixsen and Strong attempted a double superplex on Belmont. Nevaeh managed to lift and throw all three to the canvas. Amazing. At 20 minutes there was no pinfall or submission. Alexxis pins Strong with 5 minutes remaining and wins the trophy and the WWW championship.
There was some minor and predictable heel vs. face action post bell but it didn’t affect the ceremony. Alexxis acknowledged Strong in her speech as a worthy adversary.

The inaugural Iron Maiden competition is on for Saturday August 13th in Wakefield, MA. The format is the same as the famous Iron 8 tournament. 8 wrestlers face each other in 4 one-on-one matches. The 4 winners square off in a 45-minute Iron Women match. The winner is based on who gets the most pin falls and submissions. No DQ, no count outs.
The savagery of the 45-minute match knows no parallel in New England wrestling history. It will be interesting to see women in this same situation. Will they rise to the level of sadism set by their male counterparts? The answer in our opinion is likely yes. You need to see this.
Match Ups:
Nikki Valentine vs. Mistress Belmont
Alexxis Nevaeh vs. Solo Darling
MJ Jenkins vs. Sonya Strong
Vanity Vixsen vs. Tequila Rose
4 of the 8 competitors are featured in this August 3rd Brockton Fair event:

Mssrs. Goldberg and Richard successfully revived the WWW brand this evening in Beverly. The crowd was big and enthusiastic and the athletes put on a show every bit as good as we had all hoped. TWP has it from a reliable source high up in NECW that future WWW shows are coming in 2016.
1. Team Sea Stars vs. Sumie Sakai & Deonna Purrazzo. W. – Sukai & Purazzo
This was the WWW debut of Team Sea Stars (Delmi Exo and Ashley Vox). Though relatively green, these athletes were forced to face veteran Japanese Legend Sukai and an aggressive Ms. Purrazzo, also debuting in WWW. Sea Stars did fine but they couldn’t match their opponents’ experience and aggression. Exo and Vox tried to get a handshake at the beginning and were rewarded with kicks in the abdomen. A high point technically in the match was a smart Huricanrana by Vox against Sukai. Sea Stars are New England based so we expect to see them again in WWW. It was a treat to see Ms. Purrazzo (from the wrestling hotbed New Jersey) and Sumie Sukai, who came from further afield.
2. Maximum Mecca vs. Eve. W. – Eve (DQ)
The arrogant Mecca is considerably smaller than opponent Eve. Both showed energy and skills, particularly Mecca with her sadistic focus on eyes and chops. Despite the size differential, Mecca was on top most of the match. Eve was turning things around when Mecca’s cronies came running in and put the hurt on. Luckily for the Canadian, Belmont and Nevaeh came to the rescue. Eve wins by DQ. This rivalry will continue. Mecca is piling up enemies everywhere she goes.
3. Davienne vs. “The Portugese Princess” Ariel. W. – Davienne
This match was billed as a former champions match but it was so much more. Ariel is a legend of the recent past while Davienne is on a career trajectory that has her now an international star. She’s just off a 3-month tour of Japan.
Ariel has been out of wrestling for five years. She had a bit of a slow start but ended up getting right back into champion form. Davienne could not beat her. This was the technical match of the night. Both women ended up rolling back and forth with the other wrestler in a small package. Referee Quinn called for the bell and declared Davienne the winner though from The Professor’s vantage point it looked like Ariel had it. Referee Hill intervened and tried to declare Ariel the winner. Davienne, with vocal fan support, tried to persuade Mr. Goldberg to add 5 minutes to the match. After much confusion Mr. Quinn’s decision was accepted by the timekeeper given that he was the official of record. Both wrestlers acquitted themselves with dignity and panache.
4. Tequila Rose vs. The Snake Queen. W. – The Snake Queen
Tequila Rose is making a name for herself around the Northeast. This was the first time that The Professor has seen either of these athletes. The Snake Queen brought a real Python to the ring. She was much smaller than Rose but managed to get in plenty of licks and was not beaten up too badly. The herpetologist got the win by rolling up Tequila Rose with what looked like feet on the ropes.
5. Toxis vs. Ramona Romano. W. – Toxis (DQ)
Miss Sammi Lane is none too pleased with the defection of Toxis from The Sisterhood. She brought out a mystery woman to face her painted enemy. Ramona Romano, famous goddess of beauty, did the job and then some. Ramona is vastly more skilled and experienced than young Toxis. She was in control of the match and seemed sure of victory when for some reason she got hold of a length of chain (most likely from established cheater Lane) and got herself disqualified by referee Hill. Ramona was not happy with the outcome. She and Miss Lane did a brutal stomp down of Toxis and then skipped arm and arm to the backstage area.
6. Alexxis Nevaeh & Mistress Belmont vs. Maximum Impact (Nikki Valentine & Vanity Vixsen with Maximum Mecca) W. – Maximum Impact
This was the first and likely only time that Belmont and Nevaeh have teamed up. They agreed to do this to rid WWW of the upstart Maximum Impact faction. The veterans nearly succeeded until Miss Sammi Lane came to ringside to support Belmont and ended up causing just enough distraction to allow Ms. Vixsen to pin Alexxis. This was a surprise win. Belmont and Nevaeh actually hugged after the match. Is it conceivable that one of the greatest long term rivalries in New England wrestling history has come to an end? We’ll have to see at the next WWW show yet to be scheduled.
